We’re sisters, born in the Dominican Republic.
We were told our hair was bad. Pelo malo.
After years of straightening and shame, we took matters into our own hands and created Ocoa.

Ocoa (Oh-ko-ah) is in the Dominican Republic, where we were born. It’s our mother’s hometown and the place we’ve found the most joy.
Ocoa is from the indigenous Taino language, meaning “a place between mountains.” It’s a lush place where natural beauty is everywhere.
Its ease, beauty, joy and freedom is what we want to bring to you.
Our community is our strength. Ocoa lovers amaze us with their beauty, love of life and curl magic.
Every wave and curl pattern is individual. We learn from our hermanas daily and you can, too.

We selected our ingredients to nourish curls, skin care as scalp care. Co-formulated by hermanas for hermanas.
As busy professionals with kids under age 7, we had things to do and raindrops to run in. We were done with pretending to be someone else.
We needed safe, wonderful products that let us feel beautiful but saved time—and were safe enough to use on our kids.
It didn’t exist, so our curl journey began.
